Stephen Cerruti is a software professional with extensive software engineering experience in a wide variety of domains including power plant and satellite control, Internet traffic monitoring, online video education delivery and electronics refurbishing automation. This is his second year as mentor with the Nerd Herd.Stephen first became involved with the League of Amazing programmers assisting in afternoon computer classes at his son's elementary school in Oceanside. He has continued as a volunteer instructor at the League's main classroom in Carmel Valley.
Stephen credits networking through the League for landing his current position at Asset Science in Rancho Bernardo. Asset Science, through it's founder and CTO Eric Arseneau, has a long history of involvement with the iARoC competition and supports Stephen in his work at both the League and with the Nerd Herd team.
As with other iARoC mentors, Stephen is challenge with providing his team the right skills and knowledge to compete and allowing the team to make their own decisions regarding design and strategy. This year is especially challenging as the Nerd Herd is preparing to take the Computer Science AP exam. Stephen is attempting to combine lessons for the AP exam with advanced techniques for autonomous computing.
